Dengue fever is not an ordinary fever because it is life-threatening and because it is extremely dangerous
“Aedes aegypti, which transmits yellow fever, is one of the feeblest species in its ability for flight and it is at once blown away and destroyed when it gets into a breeze. It therefore seldom wanders from the house in which it was bred.” — William Crawford Gorgas
DENGUE FEVER WRITE-UP
FROM OUR ENGINEER HIMSELF AFTER HE RECOVERED FROM IT. |
This article is related to Dengue fever, and this is an off-topic article (i.e. website development processes). My first and foremost intention of writing this article is to raise awareness about dengue fever among subscribers of this blog and those who are reading this write-up. Basically, this blog is related to website development processes and not for anything else to discuss. I am not a health instructor, or any other person related to health issues, so in this post I would not like to recommend or suggest anything written here.
POSTED JUST TO RAISE
AWARENESS – OFF THE TOPIC WRITE-UP |
I am Nishant Saxena, I have more than 10 years of experience in website development of Chandigarh IT Park and created this blog to let more and more people know about the website development processes. We should follow these tips, tricks, techniques, and other things discussed here while creating a good website.
My elder brother – Mr. Sunit Kumar Saxena, suffered from dengue fever in 2015 living in Bangalore city in India, at that time it was at peak level, when he was suffering. Now at present (2024), he is living in Ohio, US and working there in a reputed company as an Aeronautical Engineer.
Our engineer encounters horrible dengue and overcomes this tough phase with right dengue perspective, cross threatening, and dangerous dengue fever like a walk in a park, uses his capabilities to tackle it with care – THE dengue fever encounter, read how he fought with dengue fever.
The engineer says dengue fever sucks, and it made him cry.
Some fruit juices that work in my case:
- Papaya Juice
- Kiwi Juice
- Pomegranate Juice
Remember to consume these juices in moderation and consult a healthcare professional if you have any specific dietary concerns. Stay hydrated and focus on a balanced diet to aid your recovery during dengue fever.
In India here people usually call dengue as dengu, denguine, degu, dechu, dengare, denguu, denju, dengare, denu, denise, dichku etc.
People all over the world confuse dengue with -
- Chikungunya
- Malaria
- Dog Heartworm
- Yellow Fever
- Eastern Equine Encephalitis
- St. Louis Encephalitis
- LaCrosse Encephalitis
- Western Equine Encephalitis
- West Nile Virus
We take the initiative through this platform to raise awareness about dengue fever among peoples; the dengue fever is deadly because it leads to death, so I think this is the right medium to convey my thoughts, also it is well-known and called as break-bone fever or dengue fever, is an aedes mosquito-borne tropical disease caused by the virus. In a small fraction of cases, the disease dengue fever develops into the life-threatening dengue hemorrhagic fever, literally well known as dengue fever, resulting in bleeding, low levels of blood platelets and blood plasma leakage, or into dengue shock syndrome in this dengue fever is common, where dangerously low blood pressure occurs in almost all cases of dengue fever.
This Dengue Fever is also well known as 7-day fever, dandy fever, infectious disease, and break-bone fever.
ATTENTION – DENGUE FEVER A FEW YEARS BACK WAS AT ITS PEAK LEVEL IN ALL PARTS OF INDIA AS FAR AS I KNOW AND DENGUE FEVER LEADS TO MANY DEATHS IN INDIA, THAT IS WHY THIS WRITE-UP IS POSTED HERE, PRECAUTION MERELY NOT ONLY FOR ENGINEERS, BUT IT IS ALSO FOR OTHERS TOO.
We would like to share our experience of dengue fever and hope that this information will help all readers (engineering and non-engineering field people also).
Important Note: This article should not be considered as medical advice in any form. One should take proper medical treatment in case of dengue fever. Here the intention is only to share our experience.
- How It Started, Symptoms Etc.
It started with a slight headache on 25th Sep 2015, on a Friday evening. Mild Fever and headache on the morning of 26th Sep; by evening fever went up to 101F. Took a temperature-reducing tablet. On Sunday 27th, the same symptoms continued during the day. Thinking of a typical headache and feverish body, he took a temperature reducing tablet again. By the evening of 27th Sep, even after taking temperature reducing tablet, when the fever went up to 102F, he decided to visit the doctor.
As per the Doctor’s advice, took one injection (to control fever), and, he gave three doses of antibiotic tablets, to be taken for the next three days and temperature reducing tablet, whenever fever shoots. With this treatment, there was absolutely NO sign of relief; fever & headache continued Monday (28th Sep) and Tuesday (29th Sep). No mood for eating whatsoever it is, not even having water. He started feeling very dull and weak. On Tuesday (29th Sep) afternoon, went for a second opinion with another Doctor. Blood test report confirmed positive dengue (NS1). Platelet count variation from 29th Sep till 7th Oct is shown graphically. The interesting part to observe platelet counts which were on the rising trend went suddenly down before finally recovering back. A true roller coaster ride!
Date-wise platelet count variation is shown in the graph.

As per the doctor’s advice, drink, I use to intake as much juice/water as I can (approximately 4 to 5 liters) daily.
Even though the dengue fever headache was severe, I have avoided painkillers of any sort during this period. Got a head massage for relaxation. Complete rest; not even walking around the house.
Whenever the fever was on the higher side (101F or above) I used to take prescribed medicines for dengue fever reduction. There were several days, even prescribed medicines were not able to control the fever. At those times, we used the traditional way of wiping with a wet towel help.
As a precautionary measure, all family members were using mosquito repellent cream; especially myself. This is a critical precaution that we took, to prevent further spreading. The intention was to stop dengue fever mosquitoes from biting me and spreading it further.
Even when Dengue fever was over, platelet counts reached 2.5 L/C; there was a lot of general weakness for almost 2 to 3 weeks.
